In 1981, Bob Salvin started with nothing more than a truck full of dental burs and a vision. Driving from office to office, he built relationships with dentists one handshake at a time. But it wasn’t until he attended an implant training course that he saw a real opportunity — oral surgeons were performing complex procedures using basic dental instruments. They needed something better.
Bob took action, sourcing medical-grade surgical instruments tailored for dental implantology, filling a critical gap in the market. Then came a moment that would redefine the company forever — a doctor pointed out, “You’ve got everything but the implants, don’t you?” And with that, Salvin’s tagline was born: “Everything for Your Implant Practice But the Implants.”

William Simmons - CEO
William has over 29 years experience in the healthcare field and has thousands of hours of continuing education in implant dentistry. He joined Salvin Dental in 1998 and became President of the company in 2005 then CEO of the company in 2023. William is accountable for key industry leader relationships as well as new product development. William also manages the international business and oversees the daily operations of the company. William is an alumnus of Appalachian State University, the Harvard Business School Management Development Program, and the Strategic Coach, a three year focusing program for successful entrepreneurs. He has served on the Industry Advisory Committees for the American Academy of Periodontics, the Southern Academy Of Periodontology, and the Academy Of Osseointegration. William enjoys spending time with his wife and dogs. His hobbies include Peloton, softball, billiards, roller-skating, baseball card collecting and attending professional sporting events and concerts. wsimmons@salvin.com
Greg Slayton - President
Greg has over 22 years of experience in the dental industry and is responsible for the overall customer experience at our company. He joined Salvin Dental in 2003 and became President of the company in 2023. He has thousands of hours of continuing education in implant dentistry, learning from the top key opinion leaders in our industry. Prior to entering the business world, he spent 5 years with the Charlotte Police Department as a field training officer. He also served in the United States Army Reserves before receiving an honorable discharge. He is an alumnus of the University of North Carolina – Charlotte, the Harvard Business School Management Development Program, and the Strategic Coach, a three year focusing program for successful entrepreneurs.
